Far Cry 4 Achieves 60fps on PS5

Author : Hannah May 18,2025

Eleven years after its initial release, Far Cry 4 has been enhanced to run at 60 frames per second (fps) on the PlayStation 5, significantly improving the gaming experience. As noted by user gael_74 and shared on the Far Cry 4 subreddit, the game's update history indicates that Version 1.08 brought this much-welcomed "support for 60 FPS on PS5 console."

If you haven't yet experienced Far Cry 4, now is an excellent time to dive in. The game features one of the most memorable antagonists in the series, Pagan Min, and immerses players in a vibrant and expansive open world. The Himalayan setting is not just a stunning backdrop but an interactive playground that invites players to engage in combat, hunt, and explore its vertical landscapes.

Despite some criticism regarding character development, IGN's review praised Far Cry 4 for its engaging campaign, cooperative, and competitive multiplayer modes, awarding it an impressive 8.5/10 and describing it as "great."

Far Cry 4 joins a growing list of PS4-era Ubisoft titles that have received performance enhancements in recent years, including Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins. This update has sparked enthusiasm among fans on the subreddit, many of whom are now eagerly anticipating similar upgrades for other beloved titles like Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3.

However, the timing of the update has left some players disappointed. One user lamented, "You are kidding right. I just platinumed the game, like, three days ago," highlighting the bittersweet nature of the update for some.

In other Ubisoft news, the company recently established a subsidiary focused on its Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchises, backed by a €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from Tencent. This move follows the announcement that Assassin's Creed Shadows has surpassed 3 million players. Ubisoft has faced significant challenges with high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations leading up to Shadows' release, placing immense pressure on the game to succeed amid a historic low in the company's share price.

Additionally, Ubisoft has recently added Steam Achievements to the 12-year-old Splinter Cell: Blacklist, further demonstrating their commitment to enhancing older titles for modern platforms.
