Alan Wake 2 developers want to become “Europe's Naughty Dog”

Remedy Entertainment's ambition is to become a leading force in the gaming industry. Inspired by Naughty Dog, particularly their work on the Uncharted series, Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley, speaking on the Behind The Voice podcast, articulated their goal: to be "the European counterpart of this iconic firm." This influence is evident in the development of both Quantum Break and, more notably, Alan Wake 2.

Rowley's statement highlights the cinematic style that defines Alan Wake 2, a game praised for its stunning visuals and captivating narrative. The game's success has firmly established Remedy as a top-tier European studio. Their aspirations, however, extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's mastery of cinematic single-player experiences, exemplified by the Uncharted and The Last of Us franchises (the latter a highly acclaimed and award-winning series integral to PlayStation's legacy), serves as a clear benchmark.

Even over a year after its release, Alan Wake 2 continues to receive updates enhancing gameplay across all platforms. These improvements include significant optimizations for the PS5 Pro, introducing a new "Balanced" graphics option that cleverly combines the best aspects of the PS5 Pro Performance and Quality modes. Minor adjustments to graphic settings ensure a smoother framerate and reduced visual noise. In addition to the PS5 Pro enhancements, this update addresses several minor bugs impacting gameplay, particularly within the Lake House expansion.
