At EVO 2024, Capcom showcased Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, a compilation featuring seven beloved titles from the Versus series. This collection includes the iconic Marvel vs. Capcom 2, a game frequently cited among the greatest fighting games ever made. In an interview with IGN, producer Shuhei Matsumoto discussed the extensive development process and Capcom's commitment to the series.

Matsumoto revealed a three-to-four-year development timeline, emphasizing the significant effort required to bring this collection to fruition. Initial discussions with Marvel led to delays, but ultimately resulted in a highly collaborative and successful partnership, driven by a shared desire to introduce these classics to a new generation of players. "We've been planning for about three, four years to make this project a reality," Matsumoto stated, underscoring Capcom's dedication to its fans and the lasting legacy of the Versus series.
