Capcom recently shared a pre-release community update for Monster Hunter Wilds, addressing console specifications, weapon balancing, and more. This update clarifies system requirements and provides insights into post-Open Beta Test (OBT) improvements. Let's dive into the details.
Console Performance Goals Unveiled
The developers confirmed a day-one patch for the PS5 Pro, enhancing visuals. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions will offer "Prioritize Graphics" (4K/30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p/60fps) modes. The Xbox Series S will run natively at 1080p/30fps. A rendering bug affecting the framerate mode has been resolved, resulting in noticeable performance gains. While enhanced visuals are promised for the PS5 Pro, specifics remain undisclosed.

PC performance will naturally vary based on hardware and settings. While initial PC specs were previously announced, Capcom is actively working to reduce minimum requirements for broader accessibility. Further details will be revealed closer to launch, along with the potential release of a PC benchmark tool.
Second Open Beta Test Under Consideration

A second open beta test is being considered, primarily to give players who missed the first opportunity a chance to experience the game. However, the improvements discussed in the recent stream will not be included in this potential second beta, and will only be available in the full release.
The livestream also covered refinements to hitstop and sound effects for increased impact, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon adjustments across the board, with particular attention paid to the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for release on February 28th, 2025, for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
